Torrington Academy
"Oh, hello there. You must be new.
Wait don't tell me- freshman right? Transferee? No wait, you look like a foreign exchange student. Anyway, it doesn't matter really.
Sorry, where's my manners? I'm Victoria Abbott, a student at Torrington Academy, one of the most prestigious and top boarding schools- not only in Britain, but in the world as far as boarding schools go. Your parents probably sent you here thinking you'd get the 'highest standard of education', that you'd be able to stay out of trouble and be a good little boy or girl. Don't get me wrong, the education is great, only the best qualified teachers get hired to teach here and only the 'top' students are accepted. Yeah, I know what you're thinking: you'd rather be back in your hometown with your friends. You think Torrington Academy is full of stuck-up rich kids. Well, yes, most of us are rich, and we do have a few snobs here and there but never judge a book by its cover. Ever. Ditch the student handbook because I'm here to tell you what really goes on in Torr.
Torrington Academy, as you probably already know, is situated in England. It's a remote setting, the nearest town being an hour away. It was founded by Lord Torrington and his wife, way back when. He was unsatisfied by the education, claiming that it wasn't good enough for his children, so they basically turned their castle into a boarding school for those that were rich enough to pay. It was originally an all-boys school, seeing as his only children were male but that soon changed in nineteen se- yes, you're right. I'm not here to give you a history lesson.
Torrington Academy is not your average boarding school. One of the reasons being that it is a co-ed system. Yes, boys and girls. Generally speaking, the students thrive here, both in academics and athletics. We actually do our homework and hand in reports on time, we obey the majority of the school rules. We keep the teachers happy and they give us what they want: freedom. We all know what happens when our teacher favors us: we get away with almost everything. So what happens when the majority of the school's population is liked by almost all of the teachers?
They don't do any 'night patrol'; students are able sneak out of their dorm rooms after curfew to meet up with friends. There may be the occasional boy sneaking out to meet a certain girl when everyone's asleep- rather common really. There will be times when a rave will be held in Torrington Forest, and trust me, we party hard. Someone always has connections to get alcohol, maybe even a sound system. The list goes on.
Our skirts a little bit shorter and our ties are loosened just a little bit more. We're able to talk our way out of almost any situation.
We don't have cliques in Torr, we don't seperate people like that. You just hang out with whoever you get along with. Everyone pretty much knows everyone and we all generally get along. There's drama of course. What any good high school doesnt? Some students may hold a grudge against you for being 'different' from them, there may be jealousy, plastic friendships, backstabbing and cheating. But hey, I never said this would be the perfect life.
Oh, look at the time, I have to go.
On behalf of the staff and the students of Torrington Academy, I'd like to welcome you to a place where high school will be the best and the worst days of your life."
